Greeting Cards Software

Greeting Cards Software

There is no better way to convey your sentiments to a friend or relative than with a greeting card. Now you can make your own custom cards that look as professional as cards you would buy in stores. With greeting cards software, you can create unique cards for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, Valentines Day, or any occasion when you want to let people know you are thinking about them. Cards with humor, touching verses, and inspirational lines can be created in just minutes with software on your computer, and then printed from your desktop printer. Some software programs also include a functionality that allows you to schedule the sending of cards.

Features and Price

The price of greeting cards software varies from free to $20 to $50 to $100. Be aware that “free” software is usually shareware, meaning advertisers are involved. The difference in price depends on the number of features. These include:
  • The number of fonts and the special effects you can add (such as shadow or slant)
  • The size of the library of clip art or photos
  • Whether it allows you to import images from your computer, a CD, scanner or camera
  • Whether it allows you to record you own voice greeting or sound effects to accompany your own photos
  • Whether it is a program to create your own cards, a program for you to personalize an existing card with your own text message, or a combination of both
  • Whether it includes options to create other items such as gift tags, invitations, envelopes, stationery, labels and stickers, announcements and thank you notes

  • Types of Greeting Card Software

Greeting cards software is easy to use. There is even a program called Greeting Cards for Dummies. Before you purchase it, make sure the software works with your computer's operating system. Nova Development, for example, has “Art Explosion greeting Card Factory for Macintosh.” Most software comes with tips and an instruction manual; some include a tutorial about selecting a design and using color schemes. If you're an entrepreneur and would like to start a business on the Internet, you may want to consider setting up your own e-greeting cards service, similar to American Greetings or BlueMountain.com. A single-user license is around $250. You will need to be sure you have the server system (such as Windows 2003) that the program requires, but the software will otherwise walk you through the steps of adding cards within the categories you choose.
