Survey Software
Survey software allows businesses or other organizations to set up, conduct, and compile data from surveys in order to aid in marketing, research, or other study objectives.
Survey software can be used to create both online and hard copy surveys. (As a general rule, online surveys have a much higher rate of participation and return than do those surveys which are mailed out in hard copy.)
Uses of Survey Software
In business, survey software can be used to collect specific data from customers and potential customers in order to make a company's product offerings more appealing to consumers and therefore more profitable for the company.
Good survey software will allow users to construct and conduct surveys exactly as they wish to. The types of questions to be asked and the exact wording of those questions are entirely in the control of the user. They can also specify formats for the survey and even allow different languages to be utilized depending on where the survey will be conducted.
Questions on surveys can be broken down and directed to as many categories of potential respondents as needed--including such factors as age, gender, location, income, etc. The number of questions on a survey is determined by the user, it can be as few or as many as the user feels is best to capture the data needed.
Good survey software will allow the user to edit the survey as wished. They can change or remove questions or change the order of the questions or even change the layout of the survey at any point in the process (even after it has been posted on a website or sent out as e-mail).
Surveys will run for whatever period of time the user chooses, and will end automatically at that point.
Safeguards in the software will prevent respondents from returning to take the same survey multiple times but it can allow respondents to make changes to their answers, if necessary, up to the point where the survey is closed.
Users will be able to monitor the incoming results of surveys even as they are being conducted (even the responses of individuals should be available for perusal).
Delivery Methods and Results
Survey software will create surveys that can be printed out in hard copy and mailed or handed out, but the more effective method of distributing surveys is online. Online surveys can be distributed through e-mail, placed on a web site of their own, or placed as a pop-up module on an existing website. The software is more than capable of compiling data and results from any of these methods.
Survey software can compile the collected survey results and combine them into any number of reports, graphs, and statistical breakdowns which can aid the user in better running the business or other enterprise the survey was created for.
